You’ve shed layer (upon layer) of winter clothing, and now it’s time lighten your makeup load. I’d normally be reaching for my usual tinted moisturizer with SPF, but these new high-tech foundations are making me think twice. The latest formulas are designed to look super-natural while magically providing flawless coverage. They also boast some serious bells and whistles, like all-day hydration and skin-tone-correcting ingredients. None have offered to do my laundry yet, but I’m hopeful. Here are four new foundations worth considering:
A friend of mine cannot stop yammering on about this oil-free, fragrance-free formula from Clinique. It’s comprised of nearly 40 percent water and promises to provide eighteen hours of hydration, just like the massively popular Moisture Surge skincare collection.
With a weightlessness and dewiness, thanks to the addition of natural moisturizers not commonly seen in drugstore brands—jojoba oil, rosehip extracts, shea butter and cucumber water—this medium coverage makeup looks far more expensive than it is.
I never met a Bobbi foundation I didn’t like, including this one, which is the ultimate multitasker: anti-ager, sun protector, and skin perfector in one. It’s also very moisturizing, so it doesn’t get cakey or sink into fine lines. I love it for nights out when I want an extra glowy look.
The name says it all. A weightless texture provides buildable coverage that lets skin shine through. Meanwhile, Lancôme’s legendary skincare technology perfects skin tone and boosts collagen. If it’s good enough for Julia Roberts, it’s more than good enough for me.
