Sweet Scents For Fall

Stacey Pulwer's picture

I believe I’ve mentioned my Bath & Body Works obsession here once or twice (or ten or fifteen times…). Even though I could probably survive for an entire year using just the products that are already in my closet, whenever I walk by one of their stores I’m still compelled to go in and buy something, even if it’s just a Scentportable refill or a fun new lip gloss. In fact, I was in there doing just that this weekend when, at the register, I stumbled upon a display of the tiny little 1.6 ounce mini-sized candles in the new fall scents.

It’s possible I might’ve shrieked a little with excitement, because not only do I love candles (seriously, I have at least one burning at any given moment when I’m home) but fall and winter candle scents always seem to be my favorite ones. They’re just always so warm and cozy and they remind me of growing up on the east coast, where we would spend hours outside sledding and then come inside for hot chocolate with big, fluffy marshmallows. (Not that Southern California doesn’t seem like a great place to be a kid too, but I can’t imagine growing up in an area where winter didn’t mean the possibility of snow days. Snow days are the best!)

The five new fall scents are Hot Chocolate, Cinnamon Sugar Donut, Marshmallow Fireside, Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, and Pumpkin Caramel Latte. I walked away with one of each, plus an extra Pumpkin Caramel Latte for good measure since the miniature candles are three for $5 and I definitely wanted at least one of each. So far I’ve burned two of the scents and spent at least a few minutes sniffing the other ones to try and decide which one to burn next and I can vouch for the fact that they all smell absolutely delicious. Marshmallow Fireside smells exactly like a marshmallow roast— sweet and vanilla-y with a hint of burning wood in the background. Pumpkin Caramel Latte is just amazing in that they’ve managed to perfectly capture the scent of strong coffee mixed with caramel and a touch of pumpkin to balance it out. Sitting on my couch as the scent wafted around the living room, all I wanted was to be able to transform the smell into an actual latte in my kitchen. (Or go pick one up at Starbucks. They really need to get on that) I haven’t yet burned Hot Chocolate or Cinnamon Sugar Donut, but they smell exactly like their names suggest even while they’re unlit, so I can’t wait to have the scents wafting around my entire apartment as I lounge in bed reading all the new September fashion magazines.

You can grab the bigger sizes of the fall candles starting on September 7 in stores. It can’t get here fast enough!
