So, my twelve-year-old tween has had his own email account for a few months now, but has only really just started to use it in the last few weeks. Yesterday, he asked if he could log on to it because he had found a really cool YouTube Halloween video he wanted to send me.
I should have known something was up when he said to me with a slighty scrunched up face, “Trust me, Mum. You’re going to love it!”
I granted him the royal permission to log in and send it to me, just so long as he was quick, as it was almost time to leave for school. Five minutes later and I was the latest victim of a “Rick-roll,” much to the delight of my son, who was shrieking in laughter as soon as he heard the music from the song, “Never Gonna Give You Up” belt out of my laptop.
I decided to embrace the prank and play the song through to its entirety, even pumping up the volume—you know, it was one of my favorite songs in the ’80s. God bless Rick Astley!
