With the holidays sneaking up, now is an excellent time to acknowledge all of the things in your life that you appreciate. One thing I’m thankful for this year, is that I’ve noticed that the more appreciative I am of all that I have, the more good things come my way.
Showing appreciation for opportunities, helpful people, and positive things that come your way is how you acknowledge to the universe that you would like to receive more of these things. That’s the “secret” behind the law of attraction (you attract to you what you think about most). This universal law has been around a long time (it was explained in the bestseller Think and Grow Rich, first published around the 1920s), and was introduced to a new generation through the phenomenal success of The Secret.
One way of showing appreciation is to create a gratitude vision board. Joyce Schwarz, author of the new Amazon spiritual bestseller The Vision Board, describes vision boards as “colorful canvases that serve as motivational life and career maps.”
Personally, I’m grateful to Joyce for including my own vision board (page 50) in her beautiful new book, which is filled with colorful images by artists and others who use vision boards to help make their dreams come true. This beautiful small-sized hardback also features exercises and ideas for how to identify and develop your dreams. My favorite way of enjoying the book is to open it at random and read the pages I turn to. It’s a wonderfully inspiring experience!
Schwarz dedicates an entire chapter of The Vision Board to gratitude, and how readers can use vision boards to express gratitude. Along with the beautiful boards, this chapter is filled with easy ideas for how to incorporate an attitude of gratitude into your daily life. From the timeless suggestion of counting your blessings every night before sleep, to reminiscing on seven wonders, whether it’s seven wonderful experiences, seven wonderful people in your life, or seven ways you are making a difference in the world.
The Vision Board is filled with colorful works of art and ideas for how to create your ideal life through visioning. It would make a good holiday gift; or a gift to yourself to inspire you to be all you can be in the coming year.
