Not too long ago, I had a dream where I was in a room that looked like an asylum. The walls were old and worn and the door was thick steel with a window towards the top only a few inches tall. I was sitting in the corner for a little when the door just opened.
I walk out, and I’m in a long hallway with the same doors like the one that was holding me, but each room is an exhibition, which is when I realize I’m in a museum and I am part of it. So I walk up to one door that is open and there is no floor, just one door that shows a bigger part of the museum from an upper level, and in the middle is a T-Rex skeleton put together. But as I walk closer to see it I get scared and nauseous from the height so I back up slowly and wearily. When I look down the hall, I see a small figure that kind of looked like a dog or something.
So, I walk down the hall and then notice that in the right corner my mother is sitting in a chair and the figure was a stuffed cub. So I walk closer to my mom and say, “Mom?” This is when the cub comes to life and jumps onto my mom’s lap. I step back, shocked because it’s a live bear, which is when my mom says something like: “You must become friends with this bear.” So I look at my mom like, “Are you crazy or something?” Then, I take off through the open door behind me. I’m in a grassy room and I dive and hide behind a small, tall patch of grass and watch my mom sitting in the chair and the cub rolling around on the floor entertaining my mom.
So, I’m laying there thinking what I should do now, when I move slightly and the cub turns into this huge, scary-looking grown bear that takes off right at me. So I dart off in some direction and before I know what’s happening, I’m running down this long, winding road in a dark, desolate wasteland and the bear is running at me. For some reason in all my dreams—even though in real life I’m really fast—I run much slower. So I’m trying as hard as I can to get away from the bear, and going ballistic trying to run faster when I look to my left and there’s this guy running at the same speed and he’s looking at me. I think he said something to me but then I woke up.
Is this dream telling me something? I’ve never been afraid of bears.
