One day you came in the house and you smelled the aroma of dinner that was already cooked still sitting in the warm oven. It was meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. I had gotten home early from work that day. You were wondering where I was, so you came into the office where I had fallen asleep at the computer. I was leaned back in the chair. You leaned over and ever so gently kissed me. I smiled, took a deep breath, and opened my eyes and there you were looking back at me smiling.
I asked you how your day was and it was really good. You asked how my day went and it was really good also. You kissed me again and then took me by the hand and helped me up. While I went to the kitchen to take out the food for supper, you went to take your shower. You came out in your shorts and t-shirt and I was just wearing a little pullover sundress and no shoes. I walked up to you and greeted you with a kiss and a hug. The table was set and the food was already sitting there. You said the blessing and we enjoyed our meal.
Afterward, we put on our shoes and we went for a nice walk. It wasn’t quite dark yet and a nice breeze was blowing. You could here the crickets chirping and the whippoorwills were making a beautiful sound. We got back to the house and we sat in the swing on the front porch and relaxed for a little while. I was leaning on you and your arm was around me. We were just taking in the night air and enjoying being together. Eventually we went in laid on the couch together and fell asleep. I woke up and gently kissed you and took you by the hand and we went to bed. We said good night, sweet dreams, I love you, and snuggled up together.
What a wonderful evening we had.
Although this story is not true, it was in my heart for someone I was once with. We wrote stories back and forth to each other.
