With terms of endearment he stays beside her. Her hand in his he stands before her withered and worn and somewhat melancholy … life has knocked him down and broken his heart. Tears fall and words become a whisper as each day passes with the odds being against them. Their own little corner of the world evolves around frequent stays in the hospital … she lives to love him and he would die to keep her and here she dies each day a little more. Life isn’t giving them a second chance as he watches her slipping away his world turns grayer each day him not wanting to say goodbye. As her eyesight fails her, she slowly is becoming blind. She sees more each day. She sees what many people long to see her vision of God clearer and brighter than ever. He is coming for me her frail voices speaks … I’m not afraid. Out of all the dark that fills her mind is the bright light at the end of the tunnel that shines and shows her the way to everlasting life. Each day is a gift not a given as each step taken she lives each moment as if it were her last.
With the thought of tomorrow starting without her he there is an ever present reminder that she isn’t here to stay. Memories sneak up as they come find him as emptiness replaces her. Their lives have taken shape in ways that can not be predicted or always understood. Loss has become the greatest part of their journey. It has also shown them what is precious and he is thankful that he has so much to loose and so for love is which he can only be grateful as he tries to cherish the past, embrace today and live for tomorrow.
