Our forefathers may have done a great injustice to all of us in the America’s, “In the pursuit of happiness” stated in the Declaration of Independence has all of us or perhaps, the majority of us running about searching and looking for that elusive happiness. There are companies that have made their company’s motto follow the train of thought, happiness is profit, then there was a movie with Will Smith “The Pursuit of Happyness” granted spelling different but it was still a journey to find happiness. Let us not forget loved ones telling us that all they want for us is our happiness, especially when we ourselves have no idea which side is up let alone what would make us happy.
Happiness to each of us is different. Happiness to each of us changes as we change and so the pursuit is a constant and lifelong journey, one that will never be completely finished. I think we can be happy, content and then, out of the blue, life happens. We get that bonus, the car needs new tires, we planned that dream vacation only to go and have the worse week of your life because it rained or you came down sick. Read the newspaper or watch the news, we are never completely happy and never can be completely happy because to be that you would have to live life without concern for any other people alive. I think we all have snippets of happiness and I am yes, happy with that!
I hope you do understanding what I am explaining, we all are chasing a dream, that is really what pursuit of happiness is, maybe, and this is just a maybe and I love America, but maybe we should footnote the Declaration of Independence and help a lot of people out by saying pursuit of happiness, a continuing journey. It might put a lot of counselors out of work but, what do I know I am still pursuing my happiness or is it happyness?
