Okay everyone, take a deep breath—this isn’t an article about sex! Oh damn, that’s the only reason you clicked on this link, right? Yup, everyone talks about passionate sex, but what about passionate life? What does that mean to you? Tonight, I was passionate about my favorite basketball team losing yet again! Yelling, cheering, laughing with friends—that was fun passion! (Still a little bit mad about the loss, though!)
Yesterday, I was passionate about sticking up for someone at work, and I knew it was going to bring a load of grief on me in the near future. I’ll be honest—I almost didn’t do it because I just didn’t want to deal with it. But I did, and I will deal with it, and I feel good about doing what I think was the right thing.
A few days ago, I watched my cat madly chasing a bug around our backyard. Back and forth, up and down the patio she ran, until she was panting, then she’d rest, and patiently begin stalking another bug. Wow, I thought, she is really having fun, and she is passionate about playing … and then resting in the sun, looking like she is experiencing sheer delight in just being there.
What are you passionate about in your everyday life? Here are just a few random thoughts that I’m having as I write this, and I’d love to hear yours:
Being grateful to wake up every morning, even if I’m tired, even if I’m crabby (uh, yes, my husband will testify to those mornings!).
Watching my husband sleep peacefully, because he loves to sleep, and I just like watching him breathe.
Talking to my kids, teasing my grandchildren because I love them to death, and I love hearing them laugh, when they realize their “nana” is just messing with them again.
Driving into my office parking lot, no matter how late and stressed I am, just noticing the gorgeous greens and browns of the trees.
Driving out of my parking lot late, no matter how tired, noticing the unbelievable clouds, and rushing home, grabbing my camera, then standing in the street like a fool, trying to capture some of that unbelievable beauty for myself.
Try a little everyday passion for your life tomorrow—I think you’ll like it!
