What I love most about springtime is all the pretty colors that start to bloom—from the yard, to the garden, to the trees—all kinds of pretty color. This is the best time to get out and get fresh air plus exercise; just getting out and walking to breathe in all the fresh air. I have a walker hound named Peanut. She always sniffs me when I come out to feed her, making sure I haven’t forgot her leash because she loves getting out of her pen and going for a walk too. We try to get in three-to-five miles when we get out, and it’s good for both of us.
Our neighbors used to have a walking track, but it was all overgrown. My husband and our neighbor got out there and worked really hard to get it cleared off, so that we would have a safer place to walk instead of the streets. That’s where we walk now; it’s really nice and really close to the house.
Springtime is also a time to get your garden ready if you have one. We have the best neighbors who have a really large garden that we get out and prepare every year with them. We have learned how to can vegetables (and freeze them too); this has helped us save on groceries plus we have fresh vegetables all summer and winter long. We always have enough to give some out at church to those who really need food, and that helps them too. We love this time of year because we go out and look for fresh berries; we have learned how to make all kinds of jellies with them. Last year, my husband planted all kinds of fruit trees because he knows how much I love fruit.
