There are times,
Though not many,
I wish I could backpedal
The bygone decades
And be a child again
And have all those childhood fragments
That went awry
To be mended and whole … this time around

I reminisce the brief happenings
With a father I never really knew
A parent I adored,
But cut out of my life
By another’s doing
As though I were a pawn

There are times,
Though not many,
I dwell on what might have been
What should have been
But, quite simply, never was
Because it wasn’t meant to be
It wasn’t in the realm of things,
It wasn’t my destiny

There are times,
Though not many,
I wish I could backpedal
