Gently push back your cuticles. This means more of your nail is exposed so there is more of it to paint. This will be easier to do if your cuticles are softened, so soak your hands in a bowl of warm water before you begin.
File your nails into a square shape with rounded edges. Bold, edgy colour like this looks best on a short nail than long, pointy talons.
Pick two colours for your design: make them bright and light for the perfect summer style. Start by painting a clear coat of varnish on your nail so the bright colours of the nail polish don’t stain your nail. Paint the brighter shade onto your natural half-moon shape at the base of your nail. Using a skinny brush or a nail art pen will make it easier to get a clean finish.
Using a normal brush, apply your second colour on the remaining bare nail, being careful not to overlap the first shade on the half-moon.
A layer of clear glossy varnish will ensure that both colours are locked in, plus it adds a great shine. Make sure the coloured varnish is totally dry before you apply it otherwise you will smude it and have to start again from the begining. Good luck!
