I met this guy on my way home for my Christmas break the second year of university. His name is Nathan; he’s a businessman. I liked him from the moment I saw him, though I still can’t figure out what was that I liked about him. We exchanged numbers and kept in touch since we were going separate journeys. We agreed to go on a date right after I resumed school.
The day finally came, and I returned from Christmas break. I called him immediately as soon as I got on campus and he said he would meet me the next day. He asked me to bring any of my friends along, which I did. He picked us up around 4 p.m. to a renowned restaurant about a twenty-minute drive from my campus.
When we sat down, I introduced my two friends to him and he to them. He asked us all to order any food and drink of our choice. When the food was ready, we talked as we ate. Just as the conversation went on, I saw Nathan touch the feet of one of my friend with his shoe and when my friend moved her feet, he said sorry, as if it was a mistake! I got suspicious in a way but I felt it was a mistake as he made us all believe.
Nathan asked my friends to give him their cellphone numbers so the friendship could continue and they all did. At that point, I started feeling jealous in a way because I felt left out. When we were all through with the food, he insisted that we leave the place.
On our way back to campus, Nathan stopped the car, saying he left his phone at the place. We convinced him that we should drive back but he said it was late. We dropped each of my friends at her hostel and he asked me to go with him back to the restaurant for his phone. We went back there and his phone was not there. I went looking for the phone whilst he went to book a room for the night there without my consent.
We did not find the phone so he insisted we spent the night as he couldn’t drive in the dark. I didn’t have a choice since I had no money on me. That night he date-raped me and woke me up around 3 a.m. that I should board a car to campus as he had to leave too. He left the room and frustrated as I was, took all his scratch cards, his money on the table, and went outside to ask him for money for taxi.
He gave me 50cedis and I took a taxi and left feeling so messed up and used.
The annoying part of the whole incident was that, he called one of my friends when I was asleep to meet him at that same place around 5 a.m. that morning. I felt so bad when I heard that from my friend and behaved that all was well so no one would know the ordeal I went through the previous night!
