Romans 12:3 “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Funny that the only part of this verse you really ever hear is the last part. Let’s look at that again … That … “God has delay to every man a measure of Faith.” That’s what we hear … .Right? Nobody knows that measure. We don’t know if it is a set measure, or if God by the person’s life, circumstances, situations or position in life, is given more or less, depending on what amount might be needed … We just know that God has dealt to every man, (Woman, child) a measure of faith.
Now we might all agree that it is up to us to build upon that faith. As it says in Jude 1:20 “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” now reading Jude 21… “Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” What did that say, building yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost? This is how most of our faith is built, not to mention those things that we see and Hear, remember, Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” and then there is … Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
So now we see that faith is the substance of things hoped for … um … what happens sometimes when what you hoped for doesn’t happen? Come on!! I hear some of the preachers out here saying … here we go … .Now wait before you pass judgment … Just give me a chance … Some, most and Myself mostly … has at sometime or most of time; (according to who you are looking at me) has lost my hope … which causes me to lose faith. Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” Did you see that there … it says, when the desire cometh, it is the tree of life. Sometimes those things never come … those hopes get dashed, the heart has became sick and all faith seems lost … But … (Now here we go) when everyone stops preaching at you that you should start having faith, or being like them (which goes back to the first half of the scripture) and start telling you what the word says, Our faith begins to grow.
We have to be given a time to grow back in the word, and to remember the things that GOD has brought us through. Even Jesus called those that walked with Him every day … “ O ye of little faith” They saw the miracles and heard the words of God every day, Shucks, they walked with the WORD everyday; yet in times of trouble, their faith faltered. , He didn’t put them down, He just quoted the Word to them and went on, knowing that they would remember and they would start once again to grow their faith. With every word and every miracle and every hope that Jesus sowed into their hearts, their faith grew.
Thomas was a man who everyone saw as not having faith but yet in one place in the Bible He says to Jesus. we will go with you and die with you … (John 11:16) Now that is Faith … Doesn’t sound like a man without faith, but when in the upper room, he says he wanted to see the scars and thrust his hands in His sides, or he wouldn’t believe … You see as long as he knew Jesus was with Him, He was brave and ready to do anything, He had the Faith to die if need be; but when He thought that Jesus was gone … His hope was deferred … His heart had become sick … He felt alone and as if all hope was gone … His faith faltered … Jesus even told Peter that He would pray that His faith not fail him … (Luke 22:32)
But I am here to tell you that even though our faith might fail at times, All hope may seem gone, don’t lean on people … Hide yourself in God and Him only … Know that He is there, even when He feels long gone … Hebrew 13:5-6 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” Talk with Him, walk with Him. He will lead you back to the place that you need to be. Sometimes in times of “Loss of faith” we go to others and we hear how much faith that they might have or how they would handle things, which only leaves us feeling guilty and angry and drier than ever. We feel disappointed in ourselves that we “failed” God.
Turn to God, Not people … God will not judge you, he will Not scold you, He will love you, He will commune with you … He will encourage you. He will be your hope. We cannot and should not, by any means, compare ourselves with others, we will only come up short and lacking … Let God lead us and guide us. Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen us and to lead us in all truth … get in the word and read it out loud, so that you not only read it, you Hear the word … and remember … Faith cometh by hearing … so hear it as you read it … God Bless and may your Faith grow and grow … like that little mustard seed … .you have to believe in the one
