Nestled in a Victorian building in quiet Laurel Heights, the Marilyn Jaeger Spa gives a personal touch to everything it does. A receptionist called me a day before my facial to confirm the appointment, and she called a day after to ensure my experience was enjoyable. Normally I’d be annoyed by these calls, but they felt so genuine that I actually appreciated this sophisticated service. As I waited for my appointment, they offered me red wine, pomegranate water and samples of skincare products. Inside a large maroon-painted room, I snuggled into the bed and almost fell asleep with the steamer on my face and the therapist’s warm hands softly cleansing my face. The relaxing and rejuvenating Royal Treatment facial (including a hand and leg massage) was appropriately named and fully illuminated my skin, except it didn’t include a chemical peel which I’ve come to expect. Afterwards, not only was my face invigorated and refreshed, my legs tingled from the peppermint lotion and I'd forgotten every stressul item on my to-do list.
