Schweiger Vineyards of California is mainly known for their cabernet sauvignon, and with good reason. Among their current releases is an EXCELLENT 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s a bit expensive at $48.00 a bottle, but every drop is worth it. It has a very mild nose and with hints of berries and toasty oak. I paired it with a sweet gorgonzola cheese that really brought out a caramel aftertaste, which became pleasantly stronger as time passed. In the future, I can see myself drinking this wonderfully versatile wine with either a great Porterhouse steak or dark chocolate truffles.
Schweiger wines are available at restaurants and retail outlets in 25 states. You can also purchase their wines on their website.
