I’m ecstatic to confirm that I discovered the most convenient camcorder on the market – the Flip Video. It’s so lightweight that I can shoot video anywhere and at anytime...the romantic drive in Big Sur with my boyfriend, a day out golfing, a virtual tour of my apartment, etc.
This white, sleek and plastic device is so simple to use that I never had to open an instruction manual, nor did I need a guy at Best Buy to walk me through the setup process that usually takes 20 minutes. There are only 5 buttons total on the device, and batteries and the memory card come included. The 512 MB version costs $119
and gives you 30 minutes of recording time, and the 1 GB version costs $149 and supports up to 60 minutes.
You’d think that an inexpensive video recorder would produce low-quality visuals, but instead I found it was far better quality than my friend’s heavy and costly Sony video camera. The built-in wide range microphone and speaker caught all of my twin nephews’ giggles and squeals at their first birthday party.
Another thing I love about the Flip Video is that I don’t have to remember to carry around 3 cords to adapt to other devices. A flip-out USB 2.0 arm connects to a PC or Mac and just one cable (included) is needed to connect directly to my flat panel TV. When I connected the USB arm to my PC, the software launched instantly and all I had to do was click on “I Accept” to start seeing the video of my nephews play. Easy as pie!
When I bragged about the camcorder to my dad, he grabbed it and couldn’t stop using it for the next 2 days. Looks like now I’ll have to buy one for myself.
