When I brought my son home from the hospital, he was a chunky 9 pounds, but swaddling him in a receiving
blanket just didn't seem safe enough. The first few days, I swaddled him carefully, tucking in the edges of the thin blanket so it wouldn't unravel and become dangerous. But I worried, and too often when I checked on him, he had
wriggled out of the blanket burrito.
I soon discovered the Halo SleepSack, which is a blanket that babies wear like a dress. It has holes for the neck and arms, zips up the front, and physically could not cover my baby's little face and interfere with his breathing, no matter how much he moved around. The product has won the First Candle/Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Alliance #1 Safe Sleep Product Gold Seal.
I highly recommend this product. Although I wasn't getting much sleep when my son was itty bitty, the sleep I did happen to catch was deeper because I wasn't worried about a loose blanket in his crib.
