Given that my son was born two months prematurely by emergency C-section and that I had my C-section exactly one week before my baby shower, one could say that I was ill prepared to deal with a newborn. Many people came to my rescue and gave me their used baby gear, clothes, toys, etc and loads of advice on how to cope with the first few months.

Those months are difficult enough without having to constantly worry about the potential difficulties that preemies can experience so needless to say I was very stressed. It may seem such a little thing, but I am forever grateful that among the many items given to us, we received a silly little toy called the Baby Whoozit. Elijah often cried when put in his cradle or swing and I was forever trying to find something, anything that would distract and entertain him so that I could at least take a shower or wash the dishes.

Nothing seemed to hold his attention or soothe him until “Mr. Whoozit,” our affectionate nickname for him. I would hang it from his mobile or the handle of the swing and shake it in front of Elijah’s face and inevitably his eyes would fix upon it and a smile would begin to spread across his adorable face. The colors are bold and captivating with many different shapes and textures extending from his various appendages.

His face is silly and fun and just naturally engaging. Being very easy to grab, Elijah loved to pull on his legs and shake it back and forth. Eventually, Mr. Whoozit went everywhere that we went. One less stressor to worry about and more importantly, the gift of hearing my son’s contented cooing and babbling in the company of his constant companion.
