Brand:Playskool
Product:Busy Basics Busy Gears

My son received this toy from his Aunt Sharon for Christmas and initially I was a little skeptical that it would maintain his attention. I really expected that his new favorite toy would have to be the Elmo’s Garage set. Once again, I was wrong. The thing about the Busy Gears is that it is so eye-catching. It’s kind of mesmerizing to watch those different colored gears spin round and round with the bright colored lights blinking in time to the upbeat music that plays when activated. I like how easily the gears come off and on.

Elijah actually enjoys dropping a gear onto the base while it’s spinning because the movement of the other gears will pull that one into place. And he likes to put other objects like a block or a car on it to watch them spin. And this thing is sturdy too. I’ve watched Elijah stand on it while it’s going stopping the gears from spinning and you would think that that would cause some kind of malfunction, but it doesn’t. It just goes right back to spinning once he steps off.

One other thing I really appreciate is the “catchiness” of the music. Too often the music that comes with toys is the kind that plants itself into your head and almost drives you over the edge. This music is fun and I don’t mind that I hear it playing in my head sometimes.
