When I heard that there was going to be a new Indiana Jones movie, I, like most people, was skeptical. Then the showing at Cannes came and went, and the critics were all giving it thumbs up, and the media was going nuts about how great this movie was. So I got a little more excited. I’ve always thought Harrison Ford was a good-looking guy and even looked pretty good as he aged.

The big opening day came, so my boyfriend and I made the trek to the theater and got great seats since we went to a morning showing. The plot started out pretty good with some early action and a few explosions. But things quickly went south. Let me tell you that I am a big sci-fi fan. I am a through-and-through geek and love the Alien, Predator, and Star Wars (well, most of them anyhow) movies.

When Area 51 came into play I knew I was in trouble. You see, I went to the movie expecting something more like the first Indy movie. I wanted something somewhat believable. I wanted to be intrigued by some Da Vinci Code plot or at least an ancient mummy! Instead, things just got progressively weirder. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the playful banter between the characters and the evil Russian doctor played by Cate Blanchett. That hair just screamed evil! I even liked the action sequences in the movie. All in all though, I’ve got to say that I just can’t believe that is the direction they went. I was truly disappointed and was left thinking, really? That is the direction Lucas and Spielberg decided to go? One last movie and that was the best they could come up with?

I know the critics liked it, but I didn’t. That’s just my opinion. I hope if you do go see it, you enjoy it more than I did and at least feel like you got your money’s worth.

I totally agree Lacie! I kinda felt like I was going to visit an old friend, but that friend had been dabbling in some freaky stuff while we were apart. I was disappointed in the sci-fi out come. It wasn't true to the character. Over all it wasn't a bad movie, I'm glad I saw it, but it definately wasn't up to par with the other 3. And I have to add that I hated when Indy said "I have a bad feeling about this." This comment totally took him out of character. Maybe a tongue in cheek comment via Han Solo, but I thot misplaced and distracting. just my opinion.
