Product:The Ocean Room at The Sanctuary Hotel

On a recent trip to Kiawah Island, most of the cuisine I tried in each of The Sanctuary hotel’s restaurants was decent, but when we entered the gorgeous Ocean Room I instantly realized my family and I were in for a big treat. The dark and rich ambience set a tone of grandeur as we looked over the nineteen-page wine list and then out at the view of the sand dunes leading to the Atlantic Ocean. It seemed as though there were two service people for every diner. All items on the menu -- mostly classic delicacies -- were made from fresh local ingredients. We started with lobster tail garnished with jicama, watermelon and lime, and then tried the spiced Carolina brown shrimp with summer figs. We ooh-ed and ahh-ed about our grouper and pork, and later fought with spoons over two piping hot soufflés with strawberries drizzled with a special balsamic sauce. What really set this restaurant apart was the focus on making diners feel taken care of. As examples, the hostess escorted me back from the restroom and everyone in my group was served our entrees simultaneously. I'd recommend this experience to anyone who can afford this outstanding meal and lasting memory.
