I know while reviewing a film I am suppose to be all "objectivey" and all that but Dark Knight is not a film - its a piece of art.

I have not been mesmerized this way by the flickering images in the dark room since I saw the First Jurassic Park some ten odd years back.

Christopher Nolan is truly the dark horse who can be the leader of anti dumb down movement we are facing world over.

This is not a movie. It is a wake up call to any filmmaker who thought he could hide behind the placenta of mediocrity that’s engulfing our eyes because Nolan's just blown that placenta into space on a bat bike.

Every Punch at the right time. Every dialogue with a goose bump, every expression worth a screen minute. When you have a scene between a supporting character and a almost junior artist becoming unforgettable, you know this is not a movie. It is indeed a piece of art.

Ofcourse Heath Ledger has given a performance that made me wonder what was Jack Nicholson doing in that movie 20 years back??? and mind you I am the biggest fan of jack you will find in the Milky way.

But what amazes me is that Bale doesn't pale one shade in the presence of such an authored backed attack by the joker. And this amazement doesn’t end there - Aaron Eckhart doesn’t pale a shade next to the shining dark Knight and Oldman doesn't pale a shade in the radiance of the righteous attorney.

So is there a weak link in this modern classic? yes and it could be debatable but I felt that the reason for emergence of Two-Face was a little lame duck. Too drastic too sudden. They should have just shown the beginning of this track and left it for the next sequel. So there ...I have done my "objectivity thingy" as well.

Chris Nolan like Spielberg is not awestruck by special effects and uses them merely as filmmaking tools to tell a story. And what a story he has told and in what a manner he has told. Now this is why I loved Nolan - this is memento - this is him. He somewhat lost the plot with insomnia and Pacino can do that to young guys but Chris is truly forgiven now.

To end this gushing, let me just say that the popcorn is not stale anymore. Let the festivities begin...
