Day 5 Aug. 9
Today is a milestone day for me. Every Thursday night for the past couple years I play a Hold-Em poker tournament for $60 (plus you can buy in again before the break if you lose all your chips). The “bad beat” is currently paying out over $1900. At least $100 of that money has been from the $5 I put in each week.
I decided I was not going to go & I stuck with it. Instead of breathing in smoky air (even though it’s a supposedly non-smoking game!) and listening to a lot of foul language, I walked four miles with my good friend. What a breath of fresh air – ha!
Also today, I received a response from Hollywood Casino. Yesterday I texted and requested they please take me off their mailing list. Get this, they returned my text telling me that I must personally GO TO THE CASINO and show my identification to Player Services. Boy, isn’t that cute!
Day 6 Aug. 10
Checked my emails and see a deposit has been made in my Thebes Casino online account. They are giving me $15 – they want me back. It is so easy and mind-numbing to sit in front of the computer and watch the reels of the slots spin round. It is also very easy to send money through a bank card, it literally only takes seconds. However, try to collect any winnings from these same casinos and you will find it takes many hours and even days until you collect and fax all the proper “identification”. Even then, you will most likely hear back that something was not clear or some other verification is needed.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the odds are really against getting paid from the internet casinos. I’ve known this for a long time but still played on.
I was feeling pretty good about not going to “the game” last night. But picking up my mail today, I had yet another postcard, this time from Mohegan Sun Casino, telling me that I am eligible for at least $25 in slot money between the hours of 8 – 10 pm next Saturday. I must admit it made me long to be in front of that machine that I won $300 on last week (which helped put a dent in the over $300 I lost!).
