We are off and running with the first fiftieth surprise party under our belts for 2011. I was lucky enough to host a big bash for one of my BFF’s (Best Friend at Fifty) this past weekend.
I have at least half a dozen wonderful friends turning fifty this year along with me. It is going to be a fun ride.
Ten years ago we all enjoyed a great year of festivities as we turned forty. I wish I had known what a great decade forty to fifty was going to be. I would have celebrated at those parties even more!
Forty zoomed by as we went from the crazed days of raising teenagers, to an empty nest.
Now I turn to another decade of life. I am going to celebrate it all year long based on the assumption that it will be another banner era in my life. Optimism reigns.
What will this one have to offer? It feels a little scary to imagine being another ten years older. However, I will choose to be excited about what this decade will bring.
I look forward to the adult relationships we have developed with our sons and watching them start their own families. I look forward to having more time to spend with my husband and best friend, keeping healthy and active, and of course, more celebrations with family and friends!
What are you looking forward to over the next decade?

Let’s get on with it. Cheers!
