Found My Place in Life

Being disabled for over twenty years, I have finally found my place in life. About two years ago, I took up photography and I have truly been blessed with the gift. I want to thank My Heavenly Father for giving me such a wonderful gift of taking beautiful photos.

It has not been easy finding my place in the world as a disabled person, however, with God’s guidance and being patient on my part, I have found my place in the world as a photographer.  My works are not out yet, however, it takes time and patience to get my work known. But as being disabled, I suffer with bipolar disorder, but with medications and counseling I am now a full-functioning human being who can do as much as a person who is not disabled.

You may ask, “Why don’t you have a job?” The answer is simple:

1) jobs are hard to find in my town and 2) I want to work for myself. It is really sad that employers look down on people who have mental disabilities, instead of looking at the possibilities that these people have to offer to the employers. So I have made the choice of working for myself rather than working for other people because it is less stressful for me to work for myself and also working for myself gives me the option to take some time off if I need to in order to keep myself in line with my medications and my bipolar disorder.

The best part about being a photographer is that I can go out and let the pressures of the world go and just go out and find beauty in everything I see. Getting out of the house plays an important part of my healing process and it helps me to meet new people.

In conclusion, everyone has a place in this world, whether you are disabled or not. It takes time and patience and perseverance. You are the one who has to make the choice for your life, and don’t let other people persuade you into something that you don’t want to do. So be patient, set reasonable goals, and make sure that whatever you decide to do, is what you really want to do. Because it is you that is in control of your life, not your family, not your friends. It is you who has to make the choice.
