Get Out of the Tunnel and See Life as it Was Meant to Be Seen

Every day you have a routine.

Wake up, get ready for work and head off to do your job. During the drive to work you think of the problems that await you. While thinking of the problems you listen to the radio hoping that it will relax you. You sit at a stoplight and wonder how you will make it through the day. The stoplight turns green and you continue on your journey through the tunnel ignoring everything around you.

Many of us miss the wonders of life. Our everyday lives keep us slaved to things that don’t help us grow as human beings. You should participate in the activities that will help you grow. If you aren’t improving as an individual you are stuck in life. Life should always be looked at as an opportunity to improve your life or to help someone else improve his or hers.

Whether you are volunteering your time or adopting a child you are changing lives. Spend time with your nieces and nephews and help by offering guidance. We have become lost due to the expectations put on us from our jobs. We feel that we must stay longer to finish one last work document. The reality is that the company will get the extra help that is needed or they will wait for you to get the document done. Many of us are willing to risk our health and family to keep our careers. We are being blinded from traveling inside the tunnel. In our minds the tunnel leads us to a secure place. It lowers the risk of us having to deal with things that may frighten us. When in reality the tunnel may be causing you more harm than good.

My friend Tim hated his job. Throughout the years he traveled the tunnel to a job that he felt was robbing his soul. He went to the job because it paid the bills. When things got bad he would say, “At least I have a job.” Tim woke up one morning and felt intense pain in his left arm. He went to the doctor and they were afraid he was having a heart attack. After a couple of tests it was concluded that this was due to stress. Tim took some time off from work and went to a farm to relax. For the first time he was able to see outside the tunnel due to a bad circumstance. He knew that he needed to change his life no matter how scared he was.

The circumstances made Tim see the tunnel for what it really was. Each person has his or her own tunnel. A tunnel could be a job, husband/wife, car, child, investment or any other thing that can alter the truth.

Either you climb out of the tunnel willingly or the tunnel will force you to escape.
