Heart’s Yearning

We are created to be relational people. No matter how we want to isolate ourselves, we tend to long for someone. From the womb to our death we yearn to be connected. Famous psychoanalyst like Sigmund Freud, Erik Erickson, Jean Piaget, and others try to explain personality but it all boils down to the need of relationship. We can not deny the fact that when we feel alone and disconnected we feel so miserable and our hearts are so heavy that even the powerful drugs can not subdued the darkness of being alone. Have you ever wonder why do we have to stay nine months inside the womb of a mother and not just pop up from somewhere or something? God intentionally wants to convey a message that we need one another. Could He be trying to say that in fellowship there is growth, life, and bonding. However, our ultimate longing is to be so close to God. Yes, we are created for his longing. We are the apple of His eyes. Our souls have been longing to have fellowship with Him. We are created to have fellowship and a relationship with the creator of heaven and earth. He is not just a mystical power from the galaxy looking and ready to pound you for your mistakes. So, you may be asking yourself why I don’t have relationship with Him and how can I have a close relationship with Him.

It’s called “SIN

Adam and Eve had a wonderful face to face interaction with God before the sin creeps into picture. As a child it was painted in our mind that they ate the apple. It is not because of this succulent red apple it is because of their disobedience and rebellion towards our loving friend and father. It must be also devastating for God because He sees us as His best friend before our fall. Now our sins separate us from Him. He will be out of fellowship with us. I just can not fathom how much He love us so much even He has legions of angel that He can fellowship with. But He preferred to have fellowship with us. John 15:16 says, “You did not choose me but I choose you and appointed you”. What a powerful illustration.
Stop Chasing Away
Our very nature is to be with our creator. Are souls yearns for Him, the problem is we are not aware that we are longing for Him too. When we are so far away from our God we long to fill the void. We long for material things, people, success, and other things than God. There is nothing wrong to pursue these things. But, we have to make sure that our God is our first priority in our lives. Make Him the lover of your soul. I am so guilty of this, in my life I pursue other things even as a Christian, I tend not to pursue God. But at the end of the day I am reminded that apart from Him, I am nothing. He longs for us. He desires us so much. He longs for a relationship.

He Devise a Plan
There is no other way we can ever see Him or even commune with Him when we fell out of fellowship. We are doomed eternally. However, John 3:16, clearly described the amount of love He has for us. “ For God so loved the world that He gave His ONE and ONLY Son, that whoever shall believed in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” That is why He sends His son Jesus to be the bridge for us so we can be with Him again. He could have enjoy the majestic sight of heavenliest and enjoy the heavenly angelic choir but he choose to brutally endured the bloody and painful persecution in the cross. Can you imagine doing that for someone who constantly giving you grief and deliberately ignoring you? I said to myself, God why do you love me that much and wasted your life for me. He cannot help it. He is so in love with us. His love is indescribable, incomparable, immeasurable, and unfathomable.
