I never see the “Serenity Prayer” in its entirety, so I decided to print the inspiration—and keep it near, ’cause believe me, I need this prayer as I type through my problems:
A First Chakra Prayer
“The Serenity Prayer”
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace .
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I will be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him.
Forever in the next.
Amen
- Reinhold Niebuhr
I go to this prayer /quote when I do not have the answers, I go to this prayer to make a decision, I go to this prayer because when I feel the answer will never come, it makes me believe that it will in its time … I take this poem everywhere I go; when there is no one, these words make me see that “Nothing is impossible” and “Impossible is nothing.”
“Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the question themselves, as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the question now. Perhaps then, some day far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.”
-Rilke
There are no more words to something that is so beautiful …
This is the air that I breathe.
