I am reminded of the words from a childhood song, the words go something like this: “Hide it under a bushel, no, I’m going to let it shine, hide it under a bushel, no, I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.” Let your beacon cut through the fog of confusion, anxiety, and the paralyzing and wrenching fear that has a strong hold on many hearts and minds today.
Leadership is not reserved for a chosen few; you can be a beacon of light and leadership in your home, in your office, in your community. Be the beacon of light and leadership that lifts the spirits and inspires hope for the future. Leaders are Beacons of Belief; they believe they can make a difference, and that they can influence their destiny and the destiny of others. They believe in themselves, that they do have answers, and that they can weather the turbulent times, that they can quickly bounce back from setbacks, and they are energized by challenge.
The events of our time often seem overwhelming, Og Mandino, the bestselling author of The Greatest Salesman in the World, wrote it best: “This, too, shall pass.”
He goes on to write, “Why should I permit the petty happenings of today to disturb me? What can take place before this sun sets which will not seem insignificant in the river of centuries? Four words will I train myself to say until they become a habit so strong that immediately they will appear in my mind whenever good humor threatens to depart from me. These words, passed down from the ancients, will carry me through every adversity and maintain my life in balance. These four words are: this, too, shall pass.”
This, too, shall pass … let your light be the ever burning Beacon of Hope. The obstacles we currently face in life will pass. Difficulties and heartaches will pass. It is easy to let fear paralyze our actions of today because change is not easy to deal with as it often rips us out of our comfort zone. I urge you to remain calm, stay focused on your goals, continue your journey towards abundance despite the choppy waters around us, and things will work together for our good.
The only real failure is someone who has given up trying, who has lost hope, who has chosen to cover their genius, to hide their light, because of fear.
The world has not given up hope. Great leaders everywhere are working together to stabilize economies and assure a prosperous future. You are engaged in your life and actively working to become abundant and I support you as we support the efforts of all who willingly expend effort to build towards a better and brighter future. Let your light be a Beacon of Hope and lead the way to a brighter future.
