Everyone has heard that the little or small things in life are to be treasured. They are the things that must be remembered for the future, used in the present, and recognized in the past. Big things may take the role of being the memory’s title or subject matter, but in the end small details are what make life flow.
I recently returned (very reluctantly, I might add) from a vacation that was oh so needed. I went down to a beautiful place called Clearwater Beach, Florida. This place, as so accurately described on a bench in a state park there, is heaven on Earth. The sand is white, the Gulf is like a bathtub, time has no importance whatsoever. For four days my mother and I were on our feet walking the beach and town, careless and free, dreaming about returning forever someday. All of this, and cucumber water stands out.
Yes, cucumber water. The resort that we stayed at offered cucumber water (a pitcher of water with cucumber slices in it) at the spa and at the poolside “activities desk.” Me, being a regular/sometimes with lemon water kind of gal myself, thought the idea was a bit out there. However, I proved myself wrong on the first sip and drank it for the rest of the stay. Cucumber water is cool, refreshing, and has a cleansing feel to it. I won’t forget Clearwater, as I plan to live there in my dreams and perhaps someday reality, but the cucumber water was a detail that I can carry with me anywhere life takes me …

After all, what’s a cool, fall day without an extra crispy leaf to crunch …
