The word yoga is a Sanskrit word where the literal meaning is of "yoke" meaning 'to join', 'to unite', or 'to attach'. I try and do yoga everyday I normally find myself doing it late at night even though I rather be practicing early in the morning. I should make a habit of drinking a cup of coffee outside in the sunlight early in the morning and then do my yoga awake and aware. Now getting back on track the term "yoga" besides its literal meaning that I mentioned above is referring to the yoking or harnessing of oxen or horses, already has a figurative sense, where it takes the general meaning of "employment, use, application, performance" (compare the figurative uses of "to harness" as in "to put something to some use"). That's exactly what we are doing when we are practicing. We are working hard and finding our inner wisdom while breathing with purpose. Thank you Wikipedia, didn't think that I would find anything interesting or useful when I first clicked, looks like that wasn't the case. I have so many friends that do yoga from time to time and then I have friends that don't do yoga ever. It isn't for everyone but for those of us that do take part in this rich practice you need to continue your path. Yoga is healthy and I think that everyone should do it at least once. There are seven places where I can go to take a few classes less than five miles from me. (It could even be less than five miles.) For some people the vocabulary could be enough to scare you away from participating in a class. Please just go ahead and take that class, it could set you off on a life long path and the setting to make new friends and life long connections.
