When the weather is brisk but the yetis haven't quite come out of hibernation, you'll want a cycling jacket that keeps the wind at... bay without overheating your core. The Gore Bike Wear Women's Power AS Jacket is a must have for your shoulder season arsenal. The Power AS Jacket was constructed from Windstopper, which is designed specifically to shield you from wind. While it's not an insulating membrane, by minimizing cold air from flowing over your skin, warm body heat is kept close to your core. This keeps you from getting chilled. The jacket features stretch panels for optimal freedom of movement, and it's lightweight enough to take off and slip into your jersey pocket if the wind dies down and the sun starts to shine. A full-length zipper is housed in a zipper port, and a semi-lock slider prevents it from slipping down while you ride. A stow pocket holds your riding essentials, and, for low light visibility, reflective prints and piping have been added to the back and sleeves. When you read a label and it says waterproof or windproof what's the first thing that comes to mind? Most likely, you're highly sk...eptical that any garment actually exists that will keep you warm and dry. But, truthfully, there are a few manufacturers that are capable of fully supporting these claims. Gore Bike Wear is first on the list. This is the same Gore that is the name behind WindStopper and Gore-Tex fabrics, so you know that you are getting your garment straight from the source. Gore Bike Wear's Countdown SO Light Jacket will keep you warm and dry no matter what Mother Nature throws your way. Gore used its venerable WindStopper softshell fabric in the Countdown SO jacket. WindStopper provides an absolute level of protection against the wind, defining itself as utterly windproof. However, this material is also water-resistant. Now, it's worth noting that Gore's designation of water-resistant is superior to other manufacturers' insistence of waterproof. This combination of attributes falls in line with what Gore calls its Outfit System. Within this system, there are three layers of apparel with three specific functions. The first layer is for moisture management, the second layer controls thermo-regulation, and the third layer, such as this jacket, provides weather protection. Accordingly, WindStopper will repel water, shed snow, and block out any wind, all while remaining highly breathable. Due to its polyester composition, the material remains soft against the skin, while also providing complete freedom of movement. After all, WindStopper is essentially a lightweight inner-membrane of the polyester fabric. So, when coupled with the anatomic, countered cut of the jacket, you'll find that the Countdown provides a fit that's free of any pinching, bunching, or chafing while in the saddle. In fact, this lends itself directly to the pronounced ideology of the Countdown line -- all-mountain versatility. Gore designed this jacket to provide both protectio... read more

When you've put a base layer beneath your Gore Bike Wear Power 2. 0 Thermo Jersey and the wind is still biting, it's time to add t...he Gore Bike Wear Power 2. 0 SO Lady Jacket to your arsenal. Worn with the jersey for bitter cold rides, or thrown over a light base layer for those days when the temperature feels warm but the wind still bites, the Power 2. 0 SO Lady Jacket keeps you riding through it all. The body of the jacket is constructed of Windstopper fabric with stretch inserts for optimal flexibility while riding. This fabric combines total windproofness with maximum breathability. Breathability means that it works in conjunction with the wicking features of your power 2. 0 jersey to keep you dry and warm. The multi-layered construction of the Windstopper fabric allows the softness of a mid-layer on the inside with a water-resistant exterior shell. Additionally, this jacket has a women-specific form fit. Panels are designed to conform with a woman's waist and hips and added grip on the hem helps to keep the jacket from riding up over your curves. The fit has a close fit high collar and soft cuffs to keep the chill out. Three back pockets, a zip underflap and zip port, a full-length zipper with slide lock and reflective logo finish off the details. The Gore Bike Wear Power 2. 0 SO Lady jacket is available in sizes X-Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black/graphite grey, Red/white, or White/graphite grey. read more

Finding the fun in winter riding can be challenging, but riding through the winter with wet skin is impossible. That's why Gore Bi...ke Wear created its Functional Thermo Women's Long Sleeve Base Layer. And by pairing a hydrophobic fiber composition with a precise, anatomic fit, Gore has ensured that you'll be riding happily all winter long. Like any base layer, the key function of the Functional Thermo base layer is moisture management. However, where this base layer differs from all-the-rest is that it actually works. First, though, let's briefly examine why you actually need a base layer. Essentially, your body has a much more difficult time regulating its temperature when your skin is wet. For a little experiment, blow on the back of your hand. Now, wet the back of your hand and blow on it again. Cooler right? Now, imagine that your breath is a 40 degree headwind, and you'll quickly realize just how important dry skin actually is in cold weather. To ensure that this happens, the Thermo base layer fits like a second skin in order to increase moisture-management efficiency. The combination of an internal hydrophobic fabric (polypropylene) with an external hydrophilic fabric (elastane) pulls moisture away from your body and evaporates it quickly. And as a result, your skin is kept and your temperature remains well-regulated. Gore designed the Thermo base layer with as few seams as possible. After all, your skin doesn't have seams, so why should your second-skin? Where seams were necessary Gore used flatlock seams, which cause less chafing than the traditional variety, while also creating a closer fit to the body. The Gore Bike Wear Functional Thermo Women's Long Sleeve Base Layer is available in the colors Black and White and in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large. read more

When the temps are low enough that your knee warmers won't quite cut it, the Gore Bike Wear 3. 0 3/4+ Tights are right in their el...ement. Featuring a pre-curved cut that helps them move without constriction, they're perfect for your day-to-day riding duties, especially in the shoulder seasons. The Power tights are constructed from a blend of nylon and elastane. In addition to being easy to care for, nylon offers a high degree of breathability, helping it to pull moisture away from your skin and transporting it to the surface of the fabric where it's able to evaporate. As you'd expect, elastane provides a controlled stretch, allowing the Power tights to move with your body. And by shifting the seams away from areas that are likely to cause irritation, Gore minimizes the chances of chafing ruining your ride. For the insert, Gore chose its Power Woman chamois. This insert blends adequate padding for medium-length rides, with a slightly smaller footprint than some of Gore's true long-distance options. The blend of nylon and elastane allows it to move with you throughout the full range of cycling motions, and it stays dry to fight chafing. Fall presents a dilemma. The cooler weather and variable conditions can limit the time we're able to spend in the saddle, but cycl...ing under a canopy of changing leaves on singletrack, enjoying the crisp morning air on your favorite road loop, or picking up new-crop squash at the farmer's market on a bright Saturday morning are among our greatest cycling pleasures. Fortunately, Gore Bike Wear has us covered with the Element Gore-Tex AS Jacket. You can find it at the intersection of price, layering, and functionality and hanging up in many of our closets. The Element AS Jacket is a true 2. 5-layer construction, which combines an outer layer that carries the color and reflective details, a Gore-Tex layer, and an inner, protective scrim that only really counts as half a layer since it's integrated in the Gore-Tex fabric. The Gore-Tex is the important part, as that's where the moisture and thermal management goes down: water out, warmth in. Gore intentionally adds the modifier durably to waterproof and windproof because this jacket won't lose its resistances over the course of a season's use and/or in the wash. Gore doesn't make fabric that lasts for years of intense use and cleaning that would strip other manufacturer's offerings of their protective properties. The jacket's fit varies from Gore-Tex's slimmer Power Jacket in that it's generous enough for some substantial thermal layering, so you can layer up when the temperature drops. It features two zippered front pockets for easy saddle-bound access, hook-and-loop fasteners for an optional hood (sold separately), adjustable cuffs, and a cord-adjustable hem. Reflective highlights include piping for your collar bones, upper arms, and lower back, plus a Gore logo at the back hem to make you as visible as possible in low-light conditions. The 2. 5-layer construction means it's as lightweight and compactable as a waterproof jacket can be. The Gore Bike Wear Element Gore-Tex AS Jacket - Women's is available in six s... read more

When it comes to winter, you need all of the protection that you're able to get. But what if that go-to winter jacket could also k...eep you covered in the fall and spring without causing heat exhaustion? A novel idea, indeed. However, Gore Bike Wear already beat us to it with its Phantom 2. 0 SO Jacket. When the weather permits, you're able to wear it as a full jacket, but while in more temperate conditions, the sleeves are removable for the perfect amount of coverage -- one jacket for every occasion. To provide the utmost protection from the elements, Gore constructed its Phantom 2. 0 jacket from a sophisticated blend of fabrics. Each region has been thoughtfully considered, and because of this, the Phantom 2. 0 is equal parts protection, comfort, and flexible. Starting with the body of the jacket, Gore used its patented WindStopper Soft Shell membrane. As its name suggests, this material makes the jacket 100% windproof. However, the name doesn't allude to its water-resistance or high level of breathability. That's right, with the comfort and weight of a mid-layer, and the protection of a shell, this material keeps you dry from both the rain and your own sweat. And while the material is exceptionally malleable, Gore also incorporated integrated stretch panels into the Phantom 2. 0. This permits a full range of movement, whether you're stretched over the hoods or reaching down into the drops. If that's not enough stretch for you, Gore enabled you to remove the raglan-cut sleeves. But, that would be an extreme measure, as the detachable sleeves primarily add to the jacket's versatility. But with the sleeves removed, the Phantom displays soft, protective short sleeves that guarantee coverage from the elements. Now, you're able to stretch the Phantom 2. 0 out over multiple seasons. Going even further into protective design features, Gore included a zippered underflap at the rear hem to protect you from wheel-spray on wet days. And while this protects you from the we... read more

It fits and breathes like a comfortable mid-layer, yet it offers a level of water and wind resistance that approaches the protection afforded by a hard-shell jacket. Gore Bike Wear gave the Xenon Jacket its Slim Fit, which means that it contours the body closely to ensure aerodynamics and proper moisture management. Additionally, the elbows are pre-shaped so that there's no restrictive tugging when you reach for the handlebars. The jacket has a long back flap for full coverage and to protect the seat of your pants from road spray. It also has a shaped collar to ensure neck comfort. The zipper is supplied with an underflap and garage to keep it tucked away nicely when the jacket is fully zipped. If you find yourself overheating during hard efforts, you can ventilate through two side zips. The Xenon Jacket has ultrasonically welded seams for minimal friction. There are three traditional patch pockets, as well as a fourth zip pocket for stowing your valuables. The sleeves have forearm zips and mesh inserts for ventilation and to make the jacket easier to put on and take off. A partially elastic gripper at the waist keeps the jacket from riding up. We're comfortable in asserting that the most irreplaceable piece of cycling-specific gear in inclement weather is the waterproof j...acket. Gloves, hats, balaclavas -- these things can all jump from sport to sport, season to season; but only a cycling jacket gives the mix of a sleek fit and water resistance we require on a bike ride. No one wants to ride in a tent-shaped poncho or a ski parka, so we turn to the original pros, Gore Bike Wear, and the Gore-Tex AS Women's Jacket when the weather turns to wet. The Power AS Jacket is a true 2. 5-layer construction, which combines an outer layer that carries the color and reflective details, a Gore-Tex layer, and an inner, protective scrim that the industry only counts as half a layer since it's integrated in the Gore-Tex fabric. Its outer shell is made with polyamide instead of polyester, which means it's lighter and more durable than Gore-Tex's other jacket, the Element. The Gore-Tex layer is the really important part, though, as that's where the moisture and thermal management goes down: water out, warmth in. Gore intentionally adds the modifier durably to waterproof and windproof because this jacket won't lose its resistances over the course of a season's use and/or in the wash. The jacket's fit is cut slim for a race-ready profile and it features a zippered rear pocket for goodies and personal effects, a full zip with an underlayer at the collar, hook-and-loop for an optional hood (sold separately), adjustable cuffs, and an elastic hem. Show blustery winds who???s boss with the Gore Bike Wear Base Layer WindStopper Women???s Turtleneck. Like the name implies, it???...s built to stop cool breezes from chilling you to the bone. And with breathable panels, you won???t overheat in the process, either. Something tells us you???ll be wearing this one off the bike as well. Gore???s WindStopper is renowned for its supreme wind-blocking abilities, as well as its breathability. In other words, while it stops wind from cutting through, the construction of the fabric lends itself to pulling moisture from the inside and transporting it to the surface where it can evaporate. However, for a next-to-skin piece, the ability to expel excess heat is essential, which is why Gore built stretch polypropylene panels into the underarms. There???s a 1/4-length zipper, which further allows you to regulate your temperature. The generous sleeve length ensures that it won???t ride up, much like the riding-oriented drop tail, which covers your backside when you???re in the drops. While it makes for a perfect cold weather riding base layer, odds are that you???ll find yourself reaching for this top during a wide range of outdoor pursuits. Reflective highlights include piping for your collar bones, upper arms, and lower back, plus a Gore logo at the back hem to make you as visible as possible in low-light conditions. The Gore Bike Wear Power GT AS jacket employs Gore-Tex's Active Shell fabric for the paneling, which is one of the most breathable in the Gore-Tex lineup. Base layers usually function in two ways, first to help with moisture management to keep you dry, and second to minimize abrasion ...from outer layers such as shorts with bibs. The Gore Bike Wear Base Layer WindStopper Long Sleeve Shirt has a third purpose. Its wind-stopping properties keep icy wind from blasting through your jersey to your skin. Areas most prone to being exposed to cold air feature inner panels of Gore's WindStopper membrane -- the chest, shoulders, and kidneys. The layer on top of the WindStopper is a moisture wicking, polypropylene fabric, blended with elastane and nylon. You'll feel this stretchy, yet form fit layer, hug your curves when you don it. The material wicks moisture away from your skin allowing it to evaporate to keep you dry and warm. The thin and soft fabric has minimal seams and, where necessary, flatlock stitching was used. It's a common cycling experience: One minute you're cruising along with the sun on your back, warm as could be, and the next minut...e, the sun has retreated behind some clouds, you've climbed a thousand feet or so, and all you can feel are the wind gusts chilling you to the core. The Gore Bike Wear WS Short-Sleeve Women's Base Layer's WindStopper fabric will help you push through those hard-to-predict climate changes. Upon closer inspection, the WindStopper membrane in this base layer covers your front, shoulders, and kidneys. The rest of the layer is made of a polypropylene/elastane blend that wicks sweat away from your body and stretches with you. In terms of warmth, the WS Short-Sleeve Women's Base Layer lies between the WS Long-Sleeve Women's Base Layer and WS Sleeveless Women's Base Layer. The short-sleeve design covers critical heat-carrying arteries in your shoulders and upper arms, but gives you more planning flexibility than the long-sleeve version. After all, you can pocket arm warmers to use on your ride, if needed. The Gore Bike Wear WS Short-Sleeve Women's Base Layer has flatlock seams to reduce abrasion and an extra-long back. There's a reflective front logo at the base of the neck, which provides an added glint of visibility if you're riding with your jersey or jacket unzipped. Though we may not have as many overall clothing options available to us as male cyclists, one area where we do enjoy dominance in ...variety is inseam length. Women's shorts across virtually all manufacturers' lines run from near-Daisy Duke length to just above the knee, so there's an inseam for all tastes. For those of us who prefer the coverage and compression benefits of longer shorts, Gore Bike Wear offers its Power Quest Shorts. The Power Quest Shorts are made from a durable, stretchy synthetic blend and boast an impressive inseam of 9 inches (23 centimeters). The outseam also does its part to help the shorts stand out; it's shifted to avoid chafing. Gripper elastics in the hems keep the shorts and insert in place, and reflective highlights help keep you visible to motorists in low-light situations. For the insert, Gore partnered with Cy-Tech's Elastic Interface division to develop a line of multi-density foam inserts for different body types and ride demands. The entire Power line has the women's three hour insert, and these shorts are no exception, making them just right for long, form-building rides. To make packing the Power vest easier, Gore included a stow pocket at the back. It compresses the vest to a size that will easily fit into your jersey pocket for quick access when the wind picks up. And to enhance your visibility to drivers, there are reflective accents throughout. The Gore Bike Wear Power AS Vest - Women's is available in six sizes, from X-Small to XX-Large, and in the colors Black, Rich Red, and Waterfall Blue. read more
