I never imagined I would be a full-time parent for more than five years, but discovered that I love doing it and feel very lucky to have such a rewarding job. Before that, I worked as managing editor of an Internet business magazine and Web site, got an MA in American history and was an aide to an Oakland, California city councilman. I live in Los Angeles with my husband and three sons who like to remind me that she is outnumbered.
