I am a Southern, a gardener, a photographer and a writer. I have been married to the love of my life for 25 years. We both love books and cats. We have a thousand books and only 3 cats. We both love books and history. We love historical sites and went to them on our honeymoon, including cemeteries.

I have gardened for my entire life. My parents and grandparents gardened. I grow flowers, vegetables and herbs. I believe and try to practice organic gardening. I am always studying, learning and experimenting. I can never grow all the plants I want to grow.

I am a musician. I have played trombone, baritone (euphonium), and mountain dulcimer. I am also a vocalist and a contralto. I love to sing for my own enjoyment. My cats don't run when I sing. My husband loves for me to sing.

I have a Bachelor's degree in French, which I never use. I have catalogued collections for libraries and museums. I love history and I love stories of people. I am romantic and I read historical romances. They have to be accurate as I can tell if they aren't.

I also read science fiction, fantasy, and other historical fiction. I read gardening and other nonfiction books. In the past, I taught both French and English. This is a curse as I proofread even when I don't want to.

I have studied and used computers for 26 years. Although I took some programming, I have primarily used applications. My specialty has been databases for libraries and museums. I have set up networks and ran a Computer Lab on weekends. For fun, I recently created my own website for my photos and writing. I hate reading the directions which drives my husband nuts.

I have studied conservation in museums. I can read 19th century handwriting - at least most of it. I love doing research on history and other areas. I believe that we can learn from the past. The lessons of the past can help us to avoid making the same mistakes in the present and future.

I attend church and sing in the choir. My relationship with God is important to me, but I don't evangelize. My faith is a personal matter to me. My church is my family church and I love it and the people in it. We are a small church and we are struggling to survive and be viable.

I have known and loved many varied people. I value them and their stories. I have known folks from many countries and many backgrounds. I believe people should be valued on their own account and not because of their education level, or any other factors.

I hope to spend my life continuing to grow as a person and always learning. I am grateful for the lessons I have learned in life. I wouldn't want to go through the hard knocks of learning those lessons again.
