I am a certified professional life coach specializing in guiding clients through periods of major transition (career change, divorce, chronic illness diagnosis) and grief recovery. I also work with those facing mid-life challenges to uncover their own brilliance so they may lead the extraordinary lives they were meant to have.
When my late husband was diagnosed with cancer in his early 30’s, I trained in healing arts modalities including Reiki, massage, reflexology, hypnotherapy & energy work. After his death, I studied psychotherapy at Transformational Arts College in Toronto, Canada. While the program prepared me with excellent skills to work with clients, I realized the modality didn’t fit my life philosophy of change through a combination of awareness, action and forward movement.
A twenty year career in the film industry gave me strong transitions skills. I am a master of change and empower clients to turn fear into excitement. I am also a former professional athlete who understands the power of coaching people to their goals.
When I realized my goal of becoming a producer, I was filled with a sense that there was something even larger on the horizon for me. After four years of living, working and healing from my loss in Canada, I once again felt the pull of the West Coast.
I returned to Los Angeles in August of 2007 inspired by a vision to create a successful model for transforming the experience of loss based on my own journey. I had been unable to find effective grief counseling during my early days of becoming a widow and I was determined to find a way to help others move authentically through the process in a more conscious way. I began to write and dance, reclaiming the artistic aspects of me. Somewhere along the way, I also found my joy again.
My search for a modality that integrated awareness with action to bring about transformation ended when I heard about life coaching from a friend. I finally found a paradigm that would allow me to support clients in rebuilding their lives following major change or the realization that somehow along the way they lost their dreams and highest hopes for their future. I am a certified professional coach having completed my training with iPEC, one of the top programs worldwide to be accredited by the International Coach Federation.
I have developed a model for Grief Recovery that helps clients design a path that addresses external changes loss initiates as well as internal emotional work that is a part of healing from loss. A key component is helping clients reconnect with a passion for life so they can find meaning and purpose. Together we design a future they can be excited about while honoring the past and what has been lost in a healthy way.
Like many of you, my life has been a combination of challenges, successes, growth and learning. I believe the intensity of those challenges has given me the empathy and breadth of experience necessary to be of service to others. It was in some of darkest corners of my life, I found the greatest gifts and the opportunity for transformation.
I am a blend of many different aspects of myself and many different life experiences. I am a daughter, a sister, a widow, a friend and a successful career woman. I am a writer, a teacher, a healer, a student, an athlete and an artist. I see my experiences, both professional and personal, the successes and the disappointments, as a balanced preparation to follow a path that will now be dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
~ Tambre Leighn, M.A., Ct.H., CPC, ELI-MP
