I teach <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/getting-started/six-practices/">6 practices, growing human(kind)ness</a>, to heal food suffering. I founded <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/about/">First Ourselves</a> in 2006 after struggling with bulimia, binge eating, sugar addiction, emotional eating, body hatred, and weight obsession for 20 years. My deepest passion is to serve, to help women heal the wounds of food suffering. <br /> <div class="wp-caption alignright"><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/karly-desk-photo_250w.jpg"><br /> </a></div> I've written several books - <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.sugar-addiction-book.com/workbook/"><em>Growing Human(kind)ness</em></a>, <em><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.sugar-addiction-book.com/book/">Overcoming Sugar Addiction</a>, </em><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/2007/body-image-ebook/"><em>Heal Your Body Image</em></a>, and <em><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/overeating-support/">Heal Overeating: Untangled</a></em>. My daybook, <em>Sitting at the Head of the Table:&nbsp; Daily Reflections to Heal from Food &amp; Weight</em>, will be available in 2011. <br /> <br /> First Ourselves is a community of women finding emotional and spiritual support to heal food suffering like <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/getting-started/overeating/">overeating</a>, <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/getting-started/sugar-support/" target="_blank"> sugar addiction</a>, bulimia, <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/getting-started/overeating/">binge eating</a>, chronic dieting, and a <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/getting-started/body-image/">negative body image</a>. While we don&rsquo;t promote any one diet, food plan or spiritual path, we share a common belief that kindness leads to change.<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/blog/"><br /> <br /> You can read the blog</a> to discover uplifting writing from me and other women on a path of recovery, <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/audios/" target="_blank">listen to my podcasts</a>, and join our <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.firstourselves.org/forum/">free private forum</a> to gain support, talk with others, and make friends with women who know just how you feel.<br /> <br /> I live with my four children (two boys and two girls ages 4 to 13) and husband in Montana. My passions include historical fiction, meditation, dance, yoga, decorating, poetry, beauty, fashion, music, family, jewelry making (and wearing!), and whole foods cooking. I'm a girly girl who loves being a woman!<br />
