Although my professional work involves architectural design and design illustration, I try to do a little sketching while traveling. I have a small watercolor field kit that I carry with me. If I can get my travel partner to slow down a bit (usually at lunch or after a day of skiing) I'll attempt to make a sketch or a watercolor. It takes a little more time to make the sketch than to take a picture, but I find that this extra effort really burns the experience into my memory.
