My name is Marcie Carson, some may know me as Marcie Baim, or even Marcie Carson Baim, sometimes with a hyphen, sometimes not. Take it from me, when you get married make a decision about taking his name or not and stick to it. On a whim, I partnered with a girlfriend to write a tragically comic book about the crazy life of a working mom (“WoMo” as we dubbed ourselves… we got tired of typing).

I am the founding Principal and Creative Director of the award-winning graphic design firm IE Design + Communications. My coauthor, Aimee Grove, and I have known each other for over three decades, which means our friendship has survived some pretty serious life hurdles beyond being working moms: headgear, leg warmers, idiotic high school indulgences (many of them involving fashion or pillaged booze), college frat parties, the urban singleton years and now it's deadlines and diaper dookie. We are both married to great guys (that we occasionally poke fun at in our WoMoments blog) and we have three little dudes between us, ages 2 (hers), 3 and 7 (mine). Did I mention that we both work waaaay too much?

I started my career in fashion, including a 9-month bout as Madonna’s costumer (now there’s a story!). I quickly left fabrics and hangers behind for the lure of logos and computers. I have been a longtime contributor to the graphic design industry — participating on judging panels and guest lectures, appearing in magazines, as well as getting nervous speaking at various events across the country. Now, I’m working on applying my never-ending curiosity and creativity to the literary world.
