I am at heart a writer and have always known that about myself. I wrote my first "book" at age 8 about my (really, my father's) old pony named Dolly -- a meager effort, but a chapter book nevertheless. My first actually published article was at age 17 in "Seventeen" magazine and before starting a family I worked variously at newspapers, an arts organization and a church. Having been a stay-at-home mom for now close to 14 years with my children, I am finally realizing that I want to write again on a regular basis and am learning to be more disciplined about it through DivineCaroline, which I think is a stellar idea. I am all about community support, involvement and mutual idea-sharing. It's great that sites like these are cropping up all over the internet. It allows writers of all ages, experiences and ideas to just get their ideas out there. That's pretty much the extent of my goals with writing right now. I need to dust off my skills and see what flies out of my head to my fingers. Probably my biggest challenge in my writing is to learn not to be too critical either of my ideas or the results. Not everyone will love what I write. Sometimes I don't, but I do feel that I have a voice and more than that, a compunction to express my ideas. If you like what you read (or even if you do not) please let me know. I'd love to have an open exchange. Thanks! Mary
