I am almost 70 years old, was laid off from my job in 2008 and never was able to find another place to employee me, I think because of my age, but of course you can never prove that. After not finding work I was looking for a new way to keep my mind busy and an interest in things. My sister mentioned how she loved my letters and always thought I might be a good writer. I started going to a free class at the YMCA called Silver Pens in order to learn about writing so I could leave all those wonderful family stories on paper for my children and grandchildren. I have been writing short stories every week for the last year. Not wanting to write a book or novel just that I regret not asking more questions from my parents and grandmothers, wanting to leave my thoughts and feelings recorded so when my children reach the age I am now they will have a resource to go to.
